An Evangeline update.

Another picture of Evangeline ...

Among the responses to the posts about Evangeline Moran Mooney (part 1 here) was an email from Chuck O'Malley with a picture of Evangeline that I don't believe I had seen before. Chuck thinks he got his copy from John Mooney. Here's the picture:

Evangeline at the Mooney Farm in West Park (undated).
We had some discussion about whether the suit that Evangeline is wearing was the "blue traveling suit" that she wore at her wedding. We tried running the image through an online site (Algorithmia) that specializes in colorizing black-and-white photos. The results may have been accurate, but they were unsatisfying: the site rendered the suit as some shade of tan or beige. If you want something done right, .... So here's an alternative (homebrew) colorized version, courtesy of Chuck x 2:

And, speaking of photos ...

Chuck was also kind enough to pass along the following picture of Capt. Bill. As the caption indicates, Cap (airborne, second from left) and unidentified others are shown engaged in a round of shooting clay pigeons on the deck of the Frontenac. It appears that Capt. Bill is serving as the trap, responsible for launching the targets. As Chuck notes, it probably goes without saying that Cap would engage in this project while wearing a tie, polished dress shoes, his captain's hat, a white shirt with cuff links, and sleeve garters.

Thank you to Chuck and to John Mooney for the pics.
